A Caring Activist Team is just three or four people supporting an individual vulnerable person. The vulnerable person is in the Team and will be the lead –unless for some reason that is not possible at the time.

A new Team can be started by a vulnerable person or by one or two other concerned people alongside the vulnerable person. There is no formal qualification for being in a Team and permission is not required from any agency.

Each Team is a collective effort by well-motivated and concerned people to

– spend time with the vulnerable person as an antidote to loneliness

– provide practical support in response to issues raised in Team discussions

When the vulnerable person is in a hospital, a care home or some other institution, the Team will watch out for neglect or ill-treatment and then work to bring it into the open.

Perhaps you feel ready to start a Team for yourself or for a vulnerable person you are concerned for. If there is not local Forum to help you, please contact me and I will try to help.
